2012 London Olympic Games! ZION! IRAN! PARANOIA!

Oh those wacky Iranian rulers. You know, it must be hard trying to quell a popular domestic uprising with a cruelty unsurpassed in decades. So hard, in fact, that Iranian diplomats and ruling-types are beginning to see things.

Take, for example, the logo for London's 2012 Olympic Games. Look below. What does that look like to you?

Ok. I don't know either. Well, I do actually, it's supposed to look like some sort of jagged "2012" Olympics logo. Well sure. I guess. If you say so. It looks like a bad jigsaw puzzle to me. But whatever.

What's important though, is that the logo apparently spells the word "ZION". This according to Iran, that bastion of truthiness. Here's the JTA report:

Iran is protesting the logo for the 2012 Olympic Games, saying it spells the word "Zion."

Mohammad Aliabadi, head of Iran's National Olympic Committee, accused the British Olympic organizers of "racism" in a letter to International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge, the Iranian ILNA news agency reported, according to news agencies.

The emblem, which features jagged shapes representing the numbers 2012, has been criticized in the past for its design, which organizers say is modern and intended to catch the attention of the younger generation.

"The use of the word Zion by the designer of Olympics logo in the emblem of the Olympics Games 2012 is a very revolting act," Aliabadi wrote, warning that if it was not changed it could "affect the participation of several countries, especially like Iran which insists on following principles and values."

The International Olympic Committee has rejected the complaint.
Amazing. Hey! You know what else that logo looks like it might spell? "Iran." Look hard enough and it certainly does. WOW! I'm flipping out.

Please lord, end the madness in Iran soon.

I don't think anyone will miss Iran at the Olympics. The 2 medals they won in 2008 will have to go to someone else.
The bottom line of the logo does kind of look like Zion spelled in Hebrew.

Yeah, but it also looks like a geometry kit from high school barfed up on a desk.

Iran won 2 medals at the 2008 Olympics? For what? Speed executions?
