CBC goes Barenaked on Page

Fans of the Barenaked Ladies already know the band as one of Canada's top pop musical exports. But aside from putting together numerous pop-chart hits - "If I Had a Million Dollars", "One Week" or "Jane" to name but a few - but some of you may not know that the Ladies' lead singer, Steven Page, is Jewish.

And even if you knew that already, the CBC is about to reveal much more about Mr. Page on Oct. 25, as part of a series called WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? which will focus on 13 Canadian celebrities over 13 weeks every Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. (8 p.m. NT) starting Oct 18.

A recent press release had this to say about the show featuring Page:

Steven Page, lead-singer, guitarist and principal songwriter for the internationally acclaimed pop-band the Barenaked Ladies... grew up in Scarborough, Ontario. Feeling like he was the only Jew in the neighbourhood, and thus an outsider, his search into his ancestry reveals family scandal, oppression and a connection to a musical dynasty as he unearths the details of Nazi massacres of Jews in Poland.

Should make for interesting viewing to fans and non-fans alike.

Just wondering why the bloggers name is Blitzkrieg? Don't you think its ironic, and for that matter totally inappropriate to call yourself Blitzkrieg. Using a term that is a term invented and made famous by Nazi Germany to write a Jewish blog called Heebonics.

Actually, if you read my name a bit more carefully, you'll note that it's a play on words that turns the term "blitzkrieg" on its head and injects some playful Jewishness into it.

Kindly look at how I spell it again.
