The former Barenaked Ladies lead singer is hosting a new reality show called The Illegal Eater, which premieres Oct. 22 at 9 p.m. ET on Blue Ant Media’s Travel + Escape channel.
He said that having travelled to so many cities, he's discovered many underground food communities – "places that thrive on legal loopholes or in some cases ignore legal mandates completely," as a recent press release for the show put it.
For example, it might be a pop-up supper club – essentially a paid dinner party in someone's home – that bypasses local health-code and zoning regulations.
"Years of touring around the world as a musician have led me to understand that each city and each region are defined by their food and drink," Page said, adding that you have to really go underground to find the "real heart and soul" of a city.
He'll be hitting up Halifax, Ottawa and Toronto, as well as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Dallas, New Orleans, and Brooklyn.
