Located at the Wolfond Centre on the University of Toronto's campus, last Friday night the Annex Shul celebrated its 4th anniversary. It was a stunning turnout as 200-plus young Jews in their 20's and 30's gathered to participate in the shul's bi-weekly shabbat affair, this time turned massive festivity.
The night started much as the bi-weekly shabbos event typically does, with a Carlebach-inspired Kabbalat Shabbat service followed by the sit down dinner. The difference this time was that the event was standing room only in the Beit Midrash.
Once the dinner concluded, a candy and soda (for our American readers) and pop (for our Canadian readers) bar opened up. At that point one could say the en masse shmoozing commenced. Congratulations from us here at Heebonics to the Annex Shul on celebrating four years of planning, executing and culturally capitalizing on community engagement programs.
