No Miracle for Shalit

On this day, erev Pesach we retell the story of our exodus from slavery in the land of Egypt. We were sent out and crossed through the desert a free people. Skip ahead to today, generations later and one young soldier's father is losing faith his son Gilad Shalit will ever be freed. Captured in a cross-border attack and taken deep into Gaza 4 years ago this June, neither attempts made to recover him by the Obama administration, nor by the Knesset, have resulted in any progress. With no homecoming to celebrate Noam Shalit, Gilad's father and the rest of his family, will once again abstain this year from holding the Passover seder.

Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi had this to say in response to the lack of progress made, Israel is "making every effort" to bring Shalit home. "We sent him there and we will bring him back. We are using every possible avenue, and it would not be right to say more than that."

Heebonics continues to pray that he is alive and as well as can be expected, may he be returned to the arms of his loving family.

To the readers of Heebonics Chag Sameach.
