He played the only Moses that ever counted on screen. He was a staunch NRA advocate. Michael Moore tried to bait him in "Bowling for Columbine", and he famously declared that "Soylent Green is people!!"

For all these things - and perhaps most for his turn as Moses opposite Yul Brynner's Pharaoh in Cecil B. DeMill's epic version of "The Ten Commandments" (admit it, most of you watched it at least a dozen times on TV over the years as kids with your parents, grandparents and at school in the week before Pesach) – will many remember Charlton Heston. He passed away over the weekend at the age of 84.
