June 2008 will likely be an hilarious month if you like the movie stylings of Adam Sandler.
The SNL alum and master of the frenetic/juvenile comedy genre - see: Happy Gilmore, Anger Management, Little Nicky, 50 First Dates, The Wedding Singer and a bunch of others - returns again with what promises to be a pretty hysterical vehicle: "You Don't Mess with the Zohan".
Although, to his credit, Sandler has been branching out somewhat taking more challenging roles in movies like 2002's "Punch Drunk Love" and this year's "Reign Over Me". I think he was extremely underrated in the latter. But I digress.
In Zohan, Sandler plays a kind of retired super-Mossad agent, looking to start life anew in New York as a, wait for it... hairdresser. Yes, it's a hare-brained plot and over-the-top. Would you expect any less from the man who created OperaMan? But the main attraction here (aside from the gorgeous female lead, Emmanuelle Chriqui) is who co-wrote the script with Sandler for this piece of funnery (yes, I know I'm making up words as I go along); it's none other than Judd Apatow. Producer and scripter of some of the funniest films of the last decade, if your sense of humour is of a particular refinement that is. He's headed films like, Superbad, Knocked Up, The 40-Year-Old Virgin and worked on the Ben Stiller Show, the Larry Sanders Show and numerous other zany projects.
Anyway, I could gush on and on about this preview. It's got some very good laughs. The only drawback is that for all of Sandler's vaunted Jewishness, he can't quite pull off that Israeli accent. My fellow Heebonicers agree that it sounds a little too French with a smidgen of Arabic thrown in to mask the syntactic fault lines.
It matters not. Watch this trailer and dig that fantastic foot smackdown. It's gold Jerry, gold.

Adam Sandler hasn't done much worth seeing see he was Opera Man on Saturday Night Live.

Sounds like you're not a big Sandler fan. But I will say again, "Reign Over Me" is a very good movie and Sandler is excellent - in my opinion - in it.
