Tom Cruise... the Good Nazi

There was some hype about the shooting of the film "Valkyrie" last summer when Tom Cruise and the Hollywood types invaded various German towns to film the true story of the attempted assassination of Hitler - Operation Valkyrie - by members of his own staff during the Second World War.

Cruise portrays Claus Von Stauffenberg, the mastermind behind the attempt on Hitler's life.

Well, the first theatrical preview of the film has just reached the Internet. In my opinion, it looks a little ham-fisted in the dialogue department and there's nary a German accent to be found. Also, no mention of the "Jewish Question" or the Holocaust in this particular trailer. Still, it could be an interesting flic.

What do you think? Have a look.

Actually I look forward to this movie, inspite of Tom Cruise.

Regarding the lack of mention of Holocaust...well, it's only a trailer, and besides the Holocaust has little to do with the premise of this movie.

True enough. But I can't seem to shake the feeling that this might be a huge disappointment, despite the strong cast surrounding Mr. Cruise.

There's something a little too... sterile about the look of this trailer. But I'll admit, I get turned off by Cruise's "acting".

You're welcome. I hope it's as good as the hype. I really do.

I think any Tom Cruise movie within the last 10 years should be left to "rental only" status.
